Day 2 – Urumqi → S21 Desert Highway → Sea of Sand Devil’s City → Fuhai
After breakfast, we set off from Urumqi and embarked on the famous S21 Desert Highway, traversing the vast desert and Gobi all the way to the hidden wonders of Northern Xinjiang. As sunlight bathes the sea of sand, it fully reveals the majestic grandeur of the Western Regions. Along the way, you can stop at designated viewing platforms to capture the breathtaking moments of your desert journey. The Yadan earthen mounds and the waters of Fuhai Lake create a striking contrast, while the wind-eroded formations take on myriad shapes. Against the backdrop of the water and sky blending into one, the scene exudes an air of mystery and ethereality. After exploring, proceed to Fuhai County for hotel check-in and rest.

At sunrise, golden light washes over the mountains and fields, creating a scene straight out of a fairy tale. Afterward, we headed to Kanas, known as the “Pure Land on Earth.” We strolled along the lakeside boardwalk, admiring the lake’s ever-changing colors as light and seasons shifted, and gazed at the breathtaking scenery where snow-capped mountains met primeval forests, immersing ourselves in Kanas’s clarity and vitality.
