Upon arrival in Lhasa, a guide well-versed in the culture of the Snowland will kick off your exciting journey through Tibet. Along the way, you can admire the clear waters of the Lhasa River Valley and the distant mountain ranges, while listening to the guide’s relaxed introduction to Lhasa’s Tibetan culture, religious traditions, and authentic cuisine. After check-in, the rest of the day is yours to explore at your own pace. We recommend taking it slow to acclimate to the high-altitude environment. Inside, a life-size golden statue of the 12-year-old Shakyamuni Buddha is enshrined, and the air is filled with the scent of incense, embodying devotion and faith. Day 3 – Lhasa → Milam Mountain Tunnel → Lake Basum → Nyingchi
After breakfast, we depart from Lhasa, pass through the Milam Mountain Tunnel, leave behind the frigid high-altitude region at 5,000 meters, and head toward Nyingchi, known as the “Jiangnan of Tibet.” The scenery along the way gradually shifts from high-altitude grasslands to lush forests and clear river valleys, as the altitude decreases and the air becomes increasingly oxygen-rich. In the afternoon, we arrive at Basum Tso, a high-altitude lake whose Tibetan name means “Green Water.” The lake’s waters are emerald-green and crystal-clear, surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The historic Tsongkhapa Monastery on the island in the center of the lake harmoniously complements the scenic beauty of the lake and mountains. Stroll along the lakeshore, admiring the breathtaking scenery where snow-capped mountains, forests, and the lake intertwine, and experience the gentle, healing atmosphere of Nyingchi. After exploring, head to downtown Nyingchi and check into your hotel to rest.
